Roadtrip home from Family Reunion

Leaving camp was hard. Those of you that have ever been to ANY kind of camp know that saying goodbye is hard and when it's 28 1/2 of your very favorite people in the world it is darn near impossible. Thankfully, La and Jess weren't leaving until Sunday so we got to spend just a bit more time with them to help ease the pain. :)
We carpooled with Liz and Sus and their sweet fams all the way to Asheville. There we said even more sad goodbyes and then got to work seeing the town. We walked around downtown and checked out quite a few shops. Lots of fun stuff to see but our kids were starting to throw fits, needed a nap, and Laner and I had a plan, so we headed back to the hotel.

Once the kids were settled in nicely with the daddies, Lane and I headed out to a fun pub for a couple of microbrews and then went and got tattoos. Yep, that's right. Lane wanted a teensy tiny triangle on her wrist. It turned out so, so cute!

As for me, I was long over-due getting the "family tattoo." My sis, my mom, and two of my 5 girl cousins all have the same tattoo. I have had 2 opportunities to get it while with a big chunk of them, but was pregnant both times. :) After spending our first week all together in the history of our family, (and me not being knocked up!) I decided it was about time I joined the club.

These pics are ridiculously horrible. And notice, I am wearing the same exact dress as when I got my nose pierced 4 weeks before. My husband swears I am having a mid-life crisis. I swear I am just finally getting around to doing things I've always wanted to do because I can!!!

 I LOVE IT!

After we had had a wonderful afternoon of sister time we went and got the kiddos/husbands and headed out for dinner at another really fun bar. The kids were rested and ready for some fun!

It was such a fun last day with family. The next morning we had a delicious brunch at a recommended place that I can't remember and then we had to hit the road.
The next two days were completely uneventful as we hauled booty home. We wanted to get home in time for Desi's birthday and the have time to get ready for the boys to start school. I can't even remember what city we stayed the night in to break up the trip. I do remember we had some delicious bbq in North Little Rock, AR but that's about all I can recall.
What I do remember is that we had the most wonderful time with our grandmas, and grandpas, and aunts, and uncles, and cousins in the mountains of North Carolina. A week we will never forget!

June - Lala and Breckin visit!

Whoa, ho, ho. We got Lala and Breckin here for A FULL WEEK at the end of June/first of July. It was so amazing. This trip Breckin and Genevieve were really able to play together and it was so entertaining to watch all the cousins interact together. My kids absolutely adore "their baby b." and couldn't get enough of her.

Other than Lala coming to yoga with me, Mimi coming down for an overnight, and our trip to the lake we did nothing but HANG OUT. It was dreamy.

Over the weekend we all headed to the lake. Candy and Brooks even came up for a day! We had a blast.

The little girls took notes from us big girls and did a lot of porch-sittin'.

They were doing it so much that we just had to pose them. These are cute little wooden antique chairs that my mom bought YEARS ago for her "future granddaughters". My goodness. Lane and I were pretty much laughing AND crying at all the cuteness.

Papa took the boys to buy a tube so that was awesome. The boys loved it, but Lala, Brad, and I showed them how to ride it wild. :)

GG totally loves her Lala...especially since Lala gave her "baby b."

But it's not just GG that loves Lala!

Polka-Dots!

The night before Lala and Breck had to leave we suited the girls up in the matching dresses we had bought them at Walls and took them outside for some pics...These girls are somethin' else.

And then they were off! But we all handled it really well because we were gonna see them again in a month!

May - Mother's Day/Family Visit

On Mother's Day, Liz/Hazel, Sus/Felix, and Mimi came all the way to stay the night at the farm!

These two girls had an absolute blast together.

I'm sure we aren't the only family that does this, but there are a lot of pics floating around in our family of cousins bathing together...so we continued the tradition.

Felix was not enjoying it at all so when he got out, Des jumped in!

The next morning we lingered on the back porch drinking coffee and watching the kids play. Then we made a delicious brunch and celebrated all the awesome moms we know...

Mimi brought a super yummy ice cream cake to celebrate the moms.

(5 of the 10.5 great grands)

Ben, Des, and G. painted a birdhouse for Mom's new back porch for her Mother's Day gift.

And we took a nice walk around the farm.
A short visit, but we sure know how to cram in a bunch of fun!
